C2

Citroën C2

Originally said to planned for 2003 the introduction of the C2 is shifted to 2005.
The C2 will be build in a new plant in Kolin, 60 km from Prague in the Czech Republic.
This new plant is a joint venture of PSA and Toyota ! The factory will build the Citroën C2, the Peugeot 107 and a Toyota version of this small car.
The price of the C2 will be below € 8000,-
The C2 will be available with a 1.0l petrol engine and a 1.4l HDI engine. The production capacity of the new plant is 300.000 units a year. Toyota will be in charge of the development and production of the cars, PSA will be responsible for the purchasing.
The total investment for this 50/50 joint venture, including research, development and business start-up costs, is estimated at approximately 1.5 billion.

Please note :
Although this was published in Auto Plus, there is obviously something wrong here. The C2, which is shown in the picture above, is a PSA only car based on the C3 platform. The C2 will be introduced in 2003. It is the C1 (name already used by the BMW small motorcycle !) that will be build in the Czech republic in a PSA - Toyota joint venture.

All information and all pictures are taken and scanned from auto plus  issue 698, dated 22-01-2002 and an official Citroën press-release.
